Grief Resources for Families and Children
The EUSD community suffered an incalculable loss last week. The loss of any loved one is difficult, unthinkably more so when it is a child. Sitting with and moving through grief can be overwhelming, for ourselves as parents and for our children. Here are some resources that may be helpful in this time:
The Dougy Center. The Dougy Center provides grief support resources for children, teens, young people, and families. On their website, you can find resources ranging from podcasts to activity sheets and can sort by age group and more.
Grieving the Loss of a Friend: Best Books for Youth & Young Adults. This list of books is curated by Eluna, an organization that provides grief support for children, teens, and families.
GriefSucks.com. For teens, Grief Sucks commits to “getting real about grief.” (Make sure to review the content to see if it’s appropriate for your kiddo.)
EUSD Resources. If your kid is struggling, remember that there are people at our schools who can help. Reach out to your principal, teacher, counselor, or community liaison to get the support your child needs.
Stay engaged, EUSD,
Talitha Matlin, Parents of EUSD Outreach Committee Member and PDL parent
