Encinitas Union School District (EUSD)

These three candidates are the ONLY candidates endorsed by EVERY retiring EUSD trustee and the Teachers of Encinitas Union.

VOTE FOR ALL 3:

  • Jillian Cocayne
    District parent active in the Special Education Parents’ Council, with a background in non-partisan policy work.

  • Bill Shen
    District parent, finance professional, and community leader who spearheaded the successful 2024 Measure Z campaign.

  • Chris Hargrave
    District grandparent and long time educator and principal in the City of San Diego.

San Dieguito Union School District (SDUHSD)

These three candidates are the ONLY candidates endorsed by retiring SDUHSD trustees Jane Lea Smith (Board President) and Rimga Viskanta (Board Vice President) and the San Dieguito Faculty Association.

Area 1: Amy Flicker
District parent and public school advocate who has served on the executive board of the North Coastal Council of PTAs and as Vice President of Legislation for the California State PTA Ninth District.

Area 3: Helen Doyle
Incoming district parent and previous trustee for the Del Mar Union School Board.

Area 5: Justin Moodie
DMUSD parent, SDUHSD graduate and distinguished Photography teacher at Oceanside High School.

Palomar Community College District

Area 1: Judy Patacsil
Incumbent; Community college professional with over 30 years experience as a professor and counselor.

Area 5: Jennifer Jeffries
Retired CSUSM professor of education.

State Superintendent

Richard Barrera
A San Diego native who attended public school kindergarten - college, Barrera is the president of the San Diego Unified School Board. He is endorsed by the Alliance to End Gun Violence, Moms Demand Action, and Everytown for Gun Safety.

Propositions

YES on Prop 3
A “Yes” vote on Prop. 3 will extend an existing income tax on California’s top earners. Without this funding, California public schools will face a 15% budget cut.

Your vote ensures our schools remain focused on academics rather than an extreme ideological agenda. Nationwide, voter turnout for school board elections is very low – often just 5-10 percent (Center for American Progress, 2020). Whether or not you have children enrolled in the district, we need your vote.
