DLI: Dual Language Immersion
Dual Language Immersion Program is available at Capri and Paul Ecke Central. It is a rigorous academic program in which Spanish is the primary language of instruction. The classroom population is half English-speaking kids and half Spanish-speaking kids. Space is limited and participation is determined by lottery.
EEF: Encinitas Educational Foundation
Encinitas Educational Foundation raises funds for district-wide programs including Choir, Concert Band, and Math 24. With contributions from public and private donors, EEF supports existing and future programs in the arts, science, technology, world language, wellness, and environmental projects designed to create world-ready citizens.
ELAC: English Learner Advisory Committee
English Learner Advisory Committee consists of parents of English learner students who advise schools on how to improve programs for English learners, and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements. Schools with above 20 English learner students must convene an ELAC.
DELAC (District ELAC, which includes a rep from each school with an ELAC) advises and ensures compliance at the district level.
LCAP: Local Control and Accountability Plan
Local Control and Accountability Plan is required as part of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). It must focus on eight areas identified as California educational priorities, as well as the district's local priorities. Parents, employees, educators and the community must be engaged in creating the LCAP. The plan must demonstrate how the budget supports the goals.
PTA: Parent Teacher Association
Parent Teacher Associations at each school coordinate things like community involvement, events, volunteering, special programs, and fundraising. The overall purpose of PTA is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
SPED: Special Education Parent Council
SPED Parent Council is a group of parents, caregivers, staff, and advocates of children receiving special education services in EUSD. They are a support network for students with disabilities and their families. They promote inclusion, respect, and understanding through innovative programs and community events.
SPSA: Single Plan for Student Achievement
Single Plan for Student Achievement is a blueprint to improve the academic performance of all students. SPSAs are required by law for schools receiving state and federal funding through the ConApp process. California Education Code requires that School Site Councils (SSC) develop the SPSAs.
SSC: School Site Council
Each school's School Site Council is comprised of an equal representation of elected school staff members and parents. They make recommendations to the principal for funding of school programs that affect student achievement. Together with the principal, they monitor the budget and SPSA. They are obligated to make recommendations that best serve their whole school community.
TRAC: Teambuilding, Regulation, Awareness, and Community
Teambuilding, Regulation, Awareness, and Community (TRAC) is EUSD's social emotional learning (SEL) program, created in 2017. Lessons are dynamic and tailored to the population of each school site, while based on 5 core SEL competencies: Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision Making.
